Silvio Berlusconi and the odd kidnapping

Tuesday, November 20, 2012. It turns out the Giuseppe Spinelli, the so-called Berlusconi's cashier, was rapidly kidnapped and release on the 15 October, on an attempt to obtain a ransom.

Giuseppe Spinelli is on of the most trustworthy member of Silvio Berlusconi's team, he was in charge of paying out allowances and rent for the so-called Olgettine, a bunch of young women (currently Elisa Toti, Aris Espinoza, Ioana Visan, Marysthelle Polanco and Eleonora De Vivo) recruited by former councillor Nicole Minetti. The former Italian prime minister of Italy is taking care of the beauties, habitué on bunga-bunga parties (details in our post “Silvio Berlusconi and the bunga bunga army”).

On the night of the 15th of October Mr Spinelly and his wife apparently were kidnapped and detained in they very home, for 11 hours, by a gang of criminals, lead by a native of Bari wearing a black and red (AC Milan colours) shoes, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.

Francesco Leone, criminal and AC Milan's supporter
The list of the bizarre elements of this odd flash-kidnapping continues: somebody mentioned a CD containing shootings about the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies  - and former Berlusconi's ally and heir apparent - Gianfranco Fini talking with magistrates and “papers” about the so-called “lodo Mondadori”  (documents that "would have made The Cavaliere happy", by proving that Fini framed SB in one of his fraud proceedings), a 35m euros ransom, £28m or $45 (out of which 8m - which is £6.4m or $10m - could have been paid).

And finally, as Spinelli was released he would not head for the nearest Police station, but he dashes to Berlusconi's villa in Arese. The Police learned about the incident only on the 17th of October. Negotiations with the criminals were led by Berlusconi's lawyer and member of Italian parliament Niccolò Ghedini.

The two involved persons Mr Fini and Mondadori's Mr De Benedetti stated that the whole thing is “a joke” and “ridiculous”, respectively.

The Police arrested six people – indicted on counts of kidnapping for ransom – three Italian citizens and three Albanians. Two of them allegedly stopped Giuseppe Spinelli at his home's entrance, and – under the threat of weapons, pushed him into the propriety. After declaring that they did not intend do carry out a robbery, the criminals turned really polite, allowing the hostages to turn in, apparently turning down the blankets on them. The boss of the gang is Francesco Leone (the man with the red and black trainers, betrayed by his passion for AC Milan), his criminal life started back in 1982, has already pleaded repentant in the past.

A bit of a mess, isn't it? But the Italian judiciary is working on it, the real story might be revealed soon...
