Berlusconi's senate expulsion vote will be held today

Wednesday, 27 November 2013. Berlusconi's supporters gather in Rome as their leader will face expulsion from Italian Senate and “political death” perpetrated by a “firing squad” (as he put it).

«It's a coup d'etat», reads the sign hung in Rome by berluscones
Tonight, apparently at 5 pm – but it can happen even earlier than that, or later, as we are talking about Italy – the Italian Senate of will vote over the expulsion of former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, due to a definitive conviction for tax fraud. Sky TV will stream a special report 'til midnight, to cover the story, all Italian media are tuned in.

In this hours the Berlusconi's supporters brandishing the newly formed Forza Italia party's flags (also known as berluscones) have started converging on Rome as a last attempt to stop the “firing squad”, as the billionaire called it. Berlusconi's girlfriend Francesca Pascale and other family members might show up.

Berlusconi has tried to avoid this potential Armageddon by all means, last but not least to force the Head of State Giorgio Napolitano to grant a presidential pardon. Napolitano snubbed the request, said that he can't pardon him, and that Berlusconi should obey law and respect institutions.

Berlusconi has been denying any charges for years, has accused judges, judiciary, leftists and accomplices of carrying out a coup d'etat and a political murder, and yesterday called for a press conference, where he announced that new documents coming form the USA will prove his innocence.

Nothing doing, he could not disrupt the path to the vote.

In order to move the masses, many of Berlusconi's allies likened the politician to historical figures like Jesus Christ – as both were unjustly condemned to death -, Nelson Mandela – as both were politically persecuted – and John Fitzgerald Kennedy – as both really really liked pussy -.

On the other side, the leftist judiciary have just released the sleazy details of the bunga bunga parties' sex scandal, that led to another conviction for “child prostitution” (for having had sex with 17-year old Karima "Ruby the Heartstealer" El Mahroug) and “abuse of office”. Coincidences? Can't really say.

The breakaway party led by Berlusconi former dauphin – the New Centre Right (NCR) - will not join the protest in the Italian capital, even though they expressed solidarity with the old sod. I mean, with Silvio Berlusconi.

The showdown may begin!
